Moonrise Bike Ride Main Event (September 7-8, 2024)

The Moonrise Bike Ride Main Event is the overnight bikepacking adventure and the focal point of activities for the weekend. You'll ride the Flint Hills Trail State Park to Pomona Lake State Park, savor an incredible chuckwagon dinner and breakfast, experience a relaxing evening of live bluegrass music, enjoy a ride in the moonlight, and sleep under the stars. Most importantly, you'll make a lot of new friends and lasting memories.  

Your Main Event ticket includes: choice of route options on the Flint Hills Trail, catered chuck-wagon dinner, evening or musical entertainment, full breakfast and coffee, non-alcoholic beverages, State Park admission for tent camping, and gear transportation.

Main Event Out and Back Route: Most participants will choose the traditional 20-mile out-and-back route from Ottawa to Pomona State Park.  You'll park your car in Ottawa, ride out with a large group on Saturday, enjoy the festivities and campout at Pomona Lake State Park, and ride the 20-mile route back to Ottawa on Sunday.

Main Event Point-to-Point Route: Riders wanting to experience most of the Flint Hills Trail can choose the point-to-point route starting in Council Grove.  You'll start in Council Grove on Saturday Morning, ride the 52 miles to Pomona Lake State Park, enjoy the festivities and campout, and continue your ride to Ottawa on Sunday morning.  This route will require riders to have their own transportation.  We will be offing a shuttle option but seats will are limited.  

Moonrise Campfire 2-Night Option (September 6, 7, 8)

If you want even more Moonrise Bike Ride magic, the 2-night campfire option is for you. Your weekend kicks off on Friday afternoon with a social gathering at Riverbank Brewing in Council Grove. You'll embark on a 20-mile ride along the Flint Hills Trail State Park to Basecamp in Allen, Kansas, where you'll set up your tent and relish an evening of delightful food and musical entertainment by the campfire. Saturday morning will greet you with a hearty breakfast before embarking on a 32-mile journey to Pomona Lake State Park for the Main Event festivities. Sunday you'll continue along the Flint Hills Trail to Ottawa.

New for this year, Moonrise Campfire is a point-to-point event.  This means that riders will be required to have transportation back to the starting point in Council Grove. We will offer a return shuttle service if you're unable to arrange your own transportation, but seats are limited, so ensure to secure your spot early.
