Prairie Spirit Trail State Park Information
The Prairie Spirit Trail covers 52 miles of beautiful Kansas prairie from Iola to Ottawa. The trail is built on the former railroad line that was constructed in the 1860s for the Leavenworth, Lawrence and Fort Gibson Railroad (which later became the Leavenworth, Lawrence and Galveston Railroad). Riders will experience rolling prairie grasslands, fields of wildflowers, a variety of wildlife, and friendly small towns that look like they did 100 years ago.
The road trail surface is mostly hard-packed limestone. This makes it incredibly user-friendly and perfect for beginning riders and families.
