Ottawa to Osawatomie Show-and-Go Bicycle Adventure
Historic Osawatomie Kansas sits at the easternmost point of the Flint Hills Trail State Park. Until recently the Flint Hills Trail stopped at the edge of town. In 2018, the Osawatomie City Council formed a trail task force to extend the trail into town and establish a formal trailhead. In a very short period the task force accomplished their goal of extending the trail into the Karl E. Cole sports complex. They marked the accomplishment with a beautiful sign at the trailhead. Soon the trailhead will include a large parking area, restrooms, and other facilities to support riders. We want to celebrate and recognize the hard work and contribution that the leaders, volunteers, and citizens of Osawatomie have made to the trail.
This ride is a show-and-go format. That means that this is a self-supported ride. It also means that it’s completely FREE. You’ll need to have everything you need for the ride as well as transportation back to Ottawa. We will provide limited support at some points along the trail, but we won’t be providing any formal support. Of course if you get stuck on the trail or need mechanical help we’ll always be there to help you out.
The ride will start at Ottawa Bike and Trial in Ottawa. We’ll ride east on the Flint Hills Trail to Osawatomie. We’ll spend a few minutes learning about Osawatomie and the Trailhead then ride back to Ottawa. The entire route is about 50-miles. Riders wanting a shorter route can ride one direction and arrange their own transportation.
This is an all-outdoor event with plenty of room for social distancing. Every rider is responsible for maintaining a minimum distance of 10-feet from the next rider. Please follow these simple rules to ensure that everyone has a good time.
Ride at your own risk
