Osage to Allen Flint Hills Trail Show-and-Go
Osage City sits near the midpoint of the The Flint Hills Trail State Park just on the edge of the Flint Hills region. The trail from Osage City to Allen has always been one of the rougher sections of the Flint Hills Trail. Thanks to improvements made by the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism this section of trail is now world-class. This show-and-go event will celebrate the hard work and attention that has gone into the trail improvements and give riders a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery and incredible views that are featured on this section of the trail. You can also expect some surprises in the small towns along the way.
The event is FREE, just RSVP Below!
This ride is a show-and-go format. That means that this is a self-supported ride. It also means that it’s completely FREE. You’ll need to have everything you need for the ride as well as transportation back to Ottawa. Volunteers will provide limited support at some points along the trail, but we won’t be providing any formal support. Of course, if you get stuck on the trail or need mechanical help someone will always be there to help you out.
The ride will start in Osage City. We’ll ride west on the Flint Hills Trail to Allen. Riders can spend time in enjoying the Allen Vetrens Fall Festival in Allen before returning to Osage City. The entire route is about 40-miles. Riders wanting a shorter route can ride one direction and arrange their own transportation. Riders wanting a longer route can continue to Council Grove.
Ride at your own risk
All participant must agree to the Event Participation Waiver which can be found here.
This is an all-outdoor event with plenty of room for social distancing. Every rider is responsible for maintaining a minimum distance of 10-feet from the next rider. Please follow these simple rules to ensure that everyone has a good time.
Where should I park?
The ride will start at the historic Santa Fe Depot (508 Market Street) in downtown Osage City. There is plenty of parking on the street and on the side streets surrounding the depot.
Will support be provided?
No, this is a free event and every rider is expected to come equipped to support their own ride. However, if you do end up in a situation where you need support other riders will be there to help you out.
What if I can't ride 40 miles?
We want as many people as possible to enjoy the trail. The route is an out-and-back route so you can choose to ride as many, or as few, miles as you want. You can ride out-and-back or arrange to have someone pick you up when you are done.
What time will the ride start?
The scheduled start time is 9:00 am. We will have instructions and a short presentation before riders take off. If you want to start the ride earlier, or later, please feel to ride our your own schedule.
